Thieves targeting a Milwaukee parking garage are leaving some customers with their parking slip and car keys but no car.WISN 12 News heard from at least two people outside the parking structure at 9thStreet and Juneau Avenue who went to retrieve their car, only to find it missing from the garage that they thought was secure. This is the same parking garage in the Brewery District that WISN 12 News reported earlier this month had experienced car break-ins and thefts. Then, the president and CEO of Interstate Parking Co., the company that owns the parking garage, told WISN 12 news that they have around-the-clock security, a 24-hour alert system and cameras that connect directly with the Milwaukee Police Department. But even all those measures couldn’t stop thieves from taking one man’s 2013 Kia Optima. AJ Escajeda told WISN 12 News he and his wife were visiting Milwaukee for their honeymoon when their wedded bliss was interrupted Sunday morning.”We thought it would be a good trip. We had a great weekend, come out to grab our car. Car no more. It was supposed to be safe in there, that’s why we picked this place. It was supposed to be safe, but it’s not. Nothing’s safe in there apparently,” Escajeda said. Escajeda said he saw three other theft victims contacting police regarding stolen vehicles from the same garage. Interstate Parking on Sunday had no comment. About two weeks ago, the head of the company told WISN 12 news they would be adding fencing and more secure garage doors , but that those wouldn’t be installed for three to six months.
